(Upper & Lower Level)
Time is elusive. Despite our attempts to structure time into measured components from milliseconds to centuries, it often feels like an illusion. As pressures and constraints govern our lives, many feel that time is flying, marching, and speeding by. Inspired by the southern turn of phrase, “a month of Sundays”, (which implies a prolonged period) this exhibition allows us to press pause on our busy lives and discover how modern and contemporary artists explore the concept of time.
Organized into five themes, Slow Time, For the Duration, Passage of Time, Take a Breath, and Marking Time, the works of art in the exhibition reveal how we mark and experience time within our own bodies and in the environment.
Come see the art on view and find what speaks to you. What pieces draw you in? We encourage you to lose yourself in the moment and rebel against our fast-paced world by engaging in the act of slow looking as you explore A Month of Sundays.
